Krystal Dethan – Visual artist & author
Krystal Dethan is a visual artist and author based in France. She studied literature and the arts of language at the City University of New York before dedicating herself to a multifaceted career: artistic makeup, literary creation, and today, screenwriting and film production.
In collaboration with photographer Thierry Crochet, ambitious and unique projects have emerged. Their most recent achievement is the upcoming release of the poetry collection Krystal (Autumn 2025), accompanied by portraits by Thierry Crochet and enigmatic illustrations by Sebastian Unterrainer.
Her first steps in cinema were marked by two experimental short films, Huntress (Hunted) and Lady Gruoch, written and directed by Krystal Dethan and filmed by Thierry Crochet. These works form a visual essay on the psychological repercussions of traditional conceptions of female «weakness».
A new poetic and aesthetic short film is currently in pre-production, once again under the attentive eye of Thierry Crochet.
Born in Jamaica, raised in New York and now based in France, Krystal continues her artistic journey by weaving literature, image and cinema into deeply evocative creations.
