Krystal Dethan – Artiste visuelle & autrice
Krystal Dethan est une artiste visuelle et autrice installée en France. Elle a étudié la littérature et les arts du langage à la City University of New York avant de se consacrer à une carrière plurielle : maquillage artistique, création littéraire, et aujourd’hui, scénarisation et réalisation cinématographique.
En collaboration avec le photographe Thierry Crochet, des projets ambitieux et singuliers ont vu le jour. Leur plus récente réalisation est la sortie à venir du recueil de poésie de Krystal (automne 2025), accompagné de portraits signés Thierry Crochet et d’illustrations énigmatiques de Sebastian Unterrainer.
Ses premiers pas dans le cinéma se sont traduits par deux courts-métrages expérimentaux, Huntress (Hunted) et Lady Gruoch, écrits et réalisés par Krystal Dethan, et filmés par Thierry Crochet. Ces œuvres forment un essai visuel sur les répercussions psychologiques des conceptions traditionnelles de la « faiblesse » féminine.
Un nouveau court-métrage poétique et esthétique est actuellement en pré-production, à nouveau sous l’œil attentif de Thierry Crochet.
Née en Jamaïque, ayant grandi à New York et désormais installée en France, Krystal poursuit son parcours artistique en tissant littérature, image et cinéma dans des créations profondément évocatrices.

So we welcomed her into our little studio in La Couronne… a beautiful boudoir session and laughs!

Krystal Dethan – Visual Artist & Writer
Krystal Dethan is a visual artist and author based in France. She studied Literature and Language Arts at the City University of New York before pursuing her multifaceted career in makeup artistry, creative writing, and now expanding into screenwriting and filmmaking.
In collaboration with photographer Thierry Crochet, powerful and imaginative projects have come to life. Their most recent endeavor is the upcoming release of Krystal’s poetry collection (Fall 2025), featuring portraits by Thierry Crochet and enigmatic illustrations by Sebastian Unterrainer.
Krystal’s first steps into film include the experimental shorts Huntress (Hunted) and Lady Gruoch—both written and directed by her, and filmed by Thierry Crochet. These works form a visual essay exploring the psychological weight of traditional views on feminine weakness.
Currently, a new beauty-poetry short film is in pre-production, once again uniting Krystal’s vision with Thierry’s lens.
